Jonathan Darr

Jonathan Darr was initiated into the Gamma Xi chapter of Phi Kappa Tau in the Spring of 2006 and won the Best New Member award in 2006. Joining Phi Tau later in his college career, Jon was active in the Resident Council for a short time, graduating from East Central in December 2007 with a History degree.

He served the Resident Council as Vice President of Alumni Relations, Community Service and Brotherhood chair, all of which he greatly enjoyed. Jon joined the Board of Governors for 1 year in 2008 but resigned due to a sick family member. Jon wasn’t done serving his chapter and once a bit more established in his young life, joined the Graduate Council as the Secretary for 1 year, then served as Graduate Council President for 5 years. His time as GC President included the 50th Founder’s Day celebration for the Gamma Xi chapter. This event was a wonderful celebration of the Gamma Xi chapter’s history in Ada, Ok and was a catalyst to bring together some Charter members of the chapter.

Jon took a year off from serving his chapter in an official role before joining the Board of Governors again in 2019 as the Recruitment Chairman until becoming the Finance Chairman in 2022. Jon began a 1 year term as acting BOG Chairman in 2023 while the BOG Chairman is deployed out of country. Jon has an unwavering support and contribution to the chapter and brotherhood and is a great asset to the brotherhood. He regularly volunteers for the chapter, both his time for events and financially. Jon can always be found at the annual Founder’s Day celebration enjoying time with his brothers from across generations.

Jon’s presence has been vital in the continued success of the Gamma Xi chapter, which is why he is being honored as the Hall of Fame initiate of the Eta Class in 2023. Jon has worked for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services since 2012, serving his communities in Child Welfare including CPS, Foster Care and Adoptions, and now at the Statewide level. Jon has been married to Jordon since 2014 and they live in Choctaw, OK with their 2 dogs, Roman and Ruka. He enjoys golf, gardening, reading, Phi Tau (obviously) and most of all, traveling.
