Jon M. Arrasmith

Jon M. Arrasmith

Jon Arrasmith, affectionately and creatively known as Aerosmith, was born August 7, 1980 and passed from this life on February 12, 2014.

A 1998 graduate from Choctaw High School, he attended Seminole State College where he played collegiate tennis for two years and received his Associate of Criminal Justice degree. Jon attended East Central University where he became a proud member of Phi Kappa Tau and the Gamma Xi family in the Fall of 2001. His pledge brothers were Jason Lee and John Paul Lundry.

Jon was a member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation and at the time of his death was the Executive Director of their Gaming Commission. John was married to Melanie (Morgan), herself an ECU Greek (Chi Omega) and they had one daughter, Evelyn Ada.

He was funny and loved to laugh and tell jokes. He was a big fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Cubs. Jon was made a member of the Gamma Xi Hall of Fame in the Alpha class, one of the first three men to be initiated into the Hall of Fame. Jon was also honored after his death with the Jon Arrasmith Memorial Scholarship at East Central, with a focus on Criminal Justice or a related field and a preference to a Phi Tau member.

Aerosmith is missed by many in our brotherhood as he left a big impression on those he met.
