Michael K. Lafferty

Michael K. Lafferty

Mike was bigger than life…his personality, his laugh, his many talents, but, mainly, his huge heart. He loved completely and unconditionally those around him he called family and friends. And, there were too many to count. Everywhere he went, people were drawn to him, and he was a great blessing to each of them. There’s nothing he wouldn’t do for anybody. People who knew him loved him in return, and admired his positivity and humor even in his most difficult circumstances. Sometimes he had trouble telling a joke or story because he was laughing so hard himself! He was famous for never forgetting a joke and could recount them easily at every opportunity.

Mike was so very proud of his sons, Todd Moss and Chad Lafferty, his daughters-in-law and his six grandchildren. Family was everything to him, including his sister, Jan, and her entire family. He loved being a part of family gatherings, and those times were not the same without his presence.

Mike had so many interests and talents. He had a beautiful tenor voice and sang with the Sing Outs while in college. He also played the guitar and harmonica, he enjoyed cooking all types of food, he wrote poetry, he enjoyed woodworking and metal crafting, and he loved “trying” to catch fish!

Mike travelled all over the country with his work with Southwestern Bell where he was able to make  numerous new friends and explore new cities. He retired with the company after 27 years, the latter years as a systems manager.

Mike took tremendous pride in being a member of Phi Kappa Tau at East Central University. He had so many wonderful memories of his time with his Brothers and loved regaling his audience with his many stories of their antics.

He is so very missed by everyone who knew him, but we are so happy he is finally out of pain. He was a baptized Christian, and he did his best each day to glorify God, so we know he is where he always longed to be. He is happy, and we are sure he is singing in Heaven’s choir.
